I AM THE WISDOM YOU SEEK

I AM

The Wisdom you seek.

Read My Word.

Your heart will keep

What I desire

For you to know

Tucked in memory

Wherever you go.

My first plan this morning was to write a poem about Wisdom.  So I looked up the synonyms for wisdom.  Then I looked up the synonyms of the synonyms and on and on.  WOW! Mind boggling!  Then I started reading in Proverbs which in essence is about Wisdom.  In the past I have studied this word, its meaning, and how it pertains to my life; only to discover that it is a topic I can never learn enough about.

I wonder what the word “wisdom” means to most people.  Actually it was years before I finally understood the meaning that made sense to me.  I heard a sermon that defined wisdom as using the knowledge we have attained in life to make the best possible decisions in the present.  This statement presents the idea that in order to have wisdom one must first attain knowledge.  And in order to attain knowledge you much search to understand that knowledge and how it can best be applied to your daily life.

And then I started studying the book of Proverbs in the Old Testament.  Over and over I read the scriptures making certain I understood who and what the pronouns were referring to in the Scriptures.  My inclination was to copy and paste to this blog all the scriptures that pertain to knowledge, wisdom, and the seeking of both.  If I did, I fear this blog would end up being a book.

Wisdom but a word we use

Do we know what it means?

It appears there are so many ideas

Of what the definition seems.

Over the years I’ve studied much

But to knowledge there is no end.

I desire more and more to learn

So that wisdom becomes my friend.

I checked back in my archives of poetry and found a few poems I have written in the past pertaining to the topic of wisdom.  I will share a few below.  Realize I am on a life journey of learning and changing, accepting, and growing.  By reading these poems I look back and view my journey.  I hope you enjoy the ones you read.

Wisdom

Appointed from eternity

From the beginning

Before the world began.

And we are told to attain it

By living our lives

In prudence & understanding.

By choice we attain these qualities.

By choice we choose prudence.

By choice we choose understanding.

By perseverance we choose knowledge.

By seeking we gain

Seeking Wisdom

This poem written in 2010 are the thoughts that came to me after I asked the Lord:

HOW DO I FIND WISDOM?

I ask the Lord

How do I find Wisdom?

“When you hear My voice”

How do I know it is Your voice I hear?

“My voice will not go against My Word.

Listen for My voice.

Obey my command.

But first you must seek Me

In Solitude

Without outside interference.

Turn off the phone,

Music, sounds.

Just listen to the quiet

For I am in the stillness.

Quiet…

A thought…

Though not audible

Your heart hears

And knows.

Act on what you hear.

Perceive My presence

Through your senses.

Visualize Me.

Smell the sweetness of my presence.

Taste and see that I am good

By digesting my scripture.

Feel My caress

As I sooth your body,

For your body longs for Me.

And then listen

Intently

For I want to speak.

You will have wisdom

When you know Me.

For wisdom and I

Go hand in hand.

When you know My spirit

You know wisdom.

You will have knowledge and discretion.

You will hate evil

And have understanding.

The more time you spend with Me

The easier you will distinguish

Your own thoughts from Mine.

The fear of the Lord is wisdom

And when you shun evil

You will have understanding.

WISDOM CRIES OUT

By Kathleen Martens

WISDOM stands at entrance of door

At gates and cities she cries out more.

“To you, O men, I call

Heed my words lest you fall.

Listen closely sons of men

Against Your self do not sin.

You simple ones PRUDENCE understand,

O, you fools, allow UNDERSTANDING

Your heart to command.

“Listen, for I will speak of excellent things.”

When I speak—righteousness I bring.

With my mouth truth I speak,

Find KNOWLEDGE, and INSTRUCTION seek.

“Wickedness is an abomination to my lips”

Turn toward me, lest you slip.

Receive my INSTRUCTION, silver is worth less

And choice gold will not impress,

Better than rubies I am to own

Or any desire you’ve ever known.”

WISDOM IS THE TOOL

So much truth

You Give Lord

That we should

Seek to find.

Your Instruction…

As love from a Father.

Your Knowledge…

That which we learn.

Your Understanding…

So to comprehend.

And that which results

In use of instruction, knowledge, and understanding

IS WISDOM

The beautiful tool

That allows us

To use the knowledge, instruction and understanding

Which you have provided

In Your Living Word.

“Proverbs 2:1-11 New International Version

Moral Benefits of Wisdom

2 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Then you will understand what is right and just
    and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
    and understanding will guard you.”

Thank You God for providing a way for man to receive wisdom.

Thank You for this beautiful winter day.

Thank You that my back is feeling so much better.

Thank You that You listen when I call our Your name.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

GOD BLESS YOU!
