A GREAT DEBACLE

A late hello
To say goodnight,
A bit more refreshing
Than yesterday’s plight.
Late to bed
And early to rise
And with the morning
Came a great surprise.
Our shag bark hickory
About 80 feet in height
Met its doom
In the night.
And in its path
Nothing fared,
Our wrought iron fence
Was not even spared.
The tree came crashing
Breaking all it touched,
As if in panic,
Down it rushed!
Though suspended
From terrace to trunk
A great debacle
That has not shrunk.
As it fell
It met resistance
While landing on
Our terrace extension.
But no one injured
And we didn’t even know
Until the morning
When we move slow.
Such a beautiful,
Wonderful tree;
I’m glad its demise
I did not see!
Thank You God that no one was injured when our tree fell.
Thank Your God for protecting our home yesterday evening and last night.
Thank You God that I only have a poem to write and nothing more.
GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS YOU
