Summer days in cumbersome heat

Settle in stillness nature’s song.

Time seems to expand the days

As evening awakens insect throngs.

Slow in movement under sultry blanket

Morning’s vigor released without guilt.

Languid motions thwart best laid plans

And daytime hours easily spilled.

All striving is laid to rest

Liberating self as motions slow.

Heart and body nourished as one

In the halcyon of summer’s glow.

As sparkling fireflies dance in the night

All sounds muffled grand.

Summer embraces sacred moments;

And stillness of the season in God’s command.
