Friday May 26 2017 WE BEAT THE RAIN!

Friday May 26 2017  WE BEAT THE RAIN!

It was a beautiful, sun-filled morning when I entered the gym at 8:00 a.m.  Two hours later the sky was heavy with low clouds.  Our spring has been one long wet spell.  My bedding plants were purchased two weeks ago and were now root-bound.  Dave has not had a chance to prepare the gardens due to the drenched soil and heavy mud. Finally we had a 24 hour period of time with no rain and it was now our window of opportunity.  And we jumped on it!  Dave worked up the bedding soil, by adding manure, insect killer, slow release fertilizers and mulch.  He also weeded and prepared the tomato and herbal gardens.  He worked up the soil and I came along behind him and planted.

When I finished planting I meandered through the woods. The forest seemed mystical and subdued.  The overcast light created an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue.  A quiet hush lingered with an air of pensiveness.  I decided not to stay too long.  It reminded me of the woods that Little Red Riding Hood took to go to her grandmother’s house.

I continued along the path which led to my neighbor’s back yard.  In my neighbor’s backyard I had an enchanting encounter with a young girl who is the daughter of a friend.  I have not seen her for several years and barely recognized her.  She is now 14 years old and it’s unbelievable how quickly a little girl becomes a beautiful young lady.  Her spirit emanated a sweet loveliness.   Our chance encounter did my heart good.  When the rain began to fall I continued my journey home.  The rain was a soft gentle rain that caused my fern gardens to dance as if choreographed by a hushed, magical breath.

It was a beautiful and rewarding morning.  As I approached my yard my heart smiled as I looked at the zinnias I had just planted which would begin blooming in a couple of weeks.  And when I feasted my eyes on the brilliant colors of the blooming snapdragons it was as if I could hear them sing.  It felt so special to once again work in the garden.  It’s as if nature enjoys creating gifts for those who tend her.

The light of dawn

With sunshine’s power

Greets the day

In its magical bower.

And springtime clouds

Shroud the earth,

Causing fanciful light

To be in dearth.

But oh the mystery

Of a forest glen,

Its somber presence…

Like the caress of a friend.

Thank You God for today’s window of opportunity to work in the garden.

Thank You Lord for the beautiful colors You have created.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS YOU!

REMEMBER TO TAKE TIME TO SEE WHAT GOD HAS ON DISPLAY ON THIS AWESOME SPRING DAY.
