Thursday May 18 2017 MY MOTHER’S DAY GIFT
A minute ago I opened a friend’s email and read her THOUGHT FOR THE DAY. I love the truth of it and have included it below:
“THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
He who has little, and is happy,
Is richer than he who has much, and wants more.
Wings of Silver”
I am happy and I hope you are too. I long ago found out that it is not what I have, how much I have, or how expensive what I have is, that makes me happy. So, I looked up the word happy to see what synonyms would pop up. Here they are: “content, contented, pleased, glad, joyful, cheerful, in high spirits, and blissful”.
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?

What is it
That makes me content?
Is it living in opulence
Or how much I’ve spent?
Am I contented
With what I own?
Or must I have a palace
And rule from a throne?
How am I pleased
May be the question.
Must I have my own way
Or can I follow directions?
What makes me glad
And puts a smile on my face?
Can I be joyful
Wherever I’m placed?
And what determines
My cheerful attitude?
Must I be entertained
Or can I be happy in platitude?
When I’m in high spirits
Is it because I have much?
Or can I be happy
When I don’t have such?
To be happy is blissful.
It is the sister of joy.
It comes from within
Without coercing or ploy
So he who has little
And still happiness scores
Is more content
Than the one who always wants more.
Dave is often in a quandary when picking out gifts for me. I am always happy with whatever he gives me. I may not ever use it, wear it, or may even take it back, but I always delight in the fact that he remembers certain occasions and events. Well, Mother’s Day is no exception to the rule. We live frugally, don’t like to waste money, but yet want to buy or make something the other will enjoy. This year he hit it right on the head! I received the best gift ever! First of all it never needs dusting, will not clutter an area for long, it didn’t put us into debt, and it was purchased with much foresight and intent because Dave knew I would absolutely be delighted with the gift (and besides, he can share it with me).
WHAT IS THE GIFT?

What gift would be
A certainty
To bring a smile
Each day awhile?
Rest assured
My heart cured,
Easy fix for love to mix.
Laugh a lot
On the spot
Now you’ll know… when you look below!
Here is the clue to find out what Dave gave me. MY HEART SMILES AT HIS CREATIVITY AND I AM THOROUGHLY ENJOYING WHAT HE GAVE ME! Though it will only last a few days it is the best gift ever! In Wisconsin it is the first of the season which makes it all the more appreciated.
Look at the poem directly above and use in sequence the first letter of each line and it will spell out my gift. Now you know why it is such a dorky poem; though it was fun to write.
Thank You God for delicacies from the garden.
Thank You God for taste buds.
Thank You God for Your joy that floods my heart!
And thank You God that You always provide what we need.
GOD BLESS YOU! HAVE A GREAT DAY FILLED WITH HAPPINESS AND JOY!
