A KEEPER OF TREASURES

How does one find

Words to express

Such a beautiful day

Filled with happiness?

A Mother’s day

Of memories unmeasured,

A mother’s heart

A keeper of treasures.

A babe in arms

A toddler at play

First words spoken

Many yet to say.

School and summers

Too soon history

A child’s future

Full of mystery.

The first goodbye

From Mother’s womb.

And the last goodbye

Comes all too soon.

Children all grown

Gone their separate ways

But in a mother’s heart

Treasured memories stay.

The house is quiet

In somber pose,

No need to wipe

A snotty nose.

And all the sounds.

The laughter and tears,

Have disappeared

Through the years.

But a mother’s heart

Still holds with pleasure

The joy of motherhood

With memories unmeasured.

Though our children could not be with us today it was a delight to talk with both son and daughter, their spouses, and our grandchildren, on the phone.  We even had the opportunity to see our grand-dogs on iPhone face time!

This old grandma and grandpa were busy the entire day with church, farmer’s market, hardware store, Ben Franklin Store, Olbrich Gardens, a pie stop, and then out to dinner!  We face timed with our daughter from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and then talked to our son on the phone from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  And now I am about ready to turn in as I have a 5:15 alarm set for tomorrow morning per chance I oversleep my usual 4:30 a.m. wakeup time.  A busy day ahead; a doctor appointment, workout, a trainer appointment at the gym and then home to meet a friend who is coming over for lunch and A CARD GAME!  I had to wait until our STAY-CATION time was over to have time to play cards.

And life is happening once again.  I just hope it doesn’t return to normal.  I rather enjoyed the lackadaisical non-schedule which I practiced for the entire week.  I think I might just carry it forward!

TO: ALL MOTHERS:

I WISH YOU HAPPINESS AND LOVE ON THIS SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY.

GOD BLESS YOU.

Thank You God for the awesome gift of mothers.

I thank You Father for the mother You designed for me.

I thank you for this wonderful, sunshine filled day at Olbrich Gardens.
