I PLAN TO EMBARK ON SUCH A JOURNEY

I wonder why I write
When there are so many books to read.
If I were not on the computer
Upon others books I would feed.
Food for my brain
Languidly awaits my greedy hands.
And oh the stories I long to devour,
But other tasks my time demands.
Shelves and shelves sit burdened
Two rows deep once again.
I could only part with but a few
Because they are my waiting friends.
Some I know personally,
Some I just know by touch.
Others are still strangers
Singled out upon my hutch.
If I could live my heart’s desire
As far as my books are concerned,
I would sit and read each one,
Every story to be learned.
They would take me many places
And my imagination would soar.
And one thing for certain
I would never, ever be bored.
I would go across the ocean
And travel the eons of time.
And so many emotions I would experience
And my thoughts never confined.
Oh to read until my heart is content
Would be the gift that God would give.
Because reading His Word is my favorite
And it would teach me how to live.
So in my dreams and imagination
I plan to embark on such a journey,
And hopefully read to my heart’s content
Until I’m carried out on a gurney.
All the boxes and bags of books that I moved to the new library space are now unpacked. There are boxes of books to donate and a couple of boxes set aside that I want to give to specific people. I have two other boxes of books set aside and their destiny is yet undetermined. Unfortunately I still have about 10 boxes of sundry items I need to go through and sort. I do not particularly look forward to that. I will just tackle one box a day. I will take little bites and make big inroads. Much of it will probably be shredded and the rest filed. I have stacks of typed poems that need to be put in three ring binders. Someday I hope to have a collection of all of my handwritten poems typed in date order as well. I already have stacks of printed poetry in three ringed binders. Plus I have boxes of hand written poetry from my younger years that are yet to be sorted and hopefully edited and typed. I wonder if anyone will want such a burden of words I will be leaving behind.
When I leave this world I suppose the gift of my poetry has served its purpose for me. My poems tell my story. And when my story ends perhaps my words will lend comfort, joy, and smiles as other continue living their stories. I hope you enjoy reading the poems I publish because I certainly enjoy writing them.
Thank You God for all the poetry You place in my heart.
Thank You for all the wonderful words which others have written that sit upon my shelves waiting to be read.
Thank You for the abundance of gifted authors who study to know You better and then share their insights with others through their books.
And thank You Lord that I am so fortunate to have so many books.
GOD BLESS YOU!
