THE ODYSSEY

A tiny tooth
Lost in a drain.
A FRONT TOOTH!
All the more strain.
Brushing my teeth
Minding P’s and Q’s,
There went my crown
Spiraling down the tube.
I couldn’t catch it
Or hold it back
Eye/hand coordination
I guess I lack.
No plumber available
At 10:00 P.M.
Even though
I went after him.
So alas
What’s a lady to do?
I got on the floor
And unscrewed the screw.
I separated the trap
And dumped it out
And in my amazement
I gave a great shout!
There was my crown
More priceless than gold
Salvaged from the muck
Of that dark hole.
With a gap in my grin
I proudly displayed
The mucky crown
Released from its grave.
And the next day was Easter
And I sat all alone.
Pride got the best of me
My smile so forlorn.
When Monday came
I called bright and early
And got an appointment
That made me quite squirrely.
So off to the dentist
I flew like a flash
With crown in tow,
In my purse stashed.
And what to my wondering
Ears should I hear
But the awesome words
That my repair was near.
With a twinkle in his eye
The Dentist went to work.
Everything looked good,
My crown would not shirk.
And soon it was sterile
And put back in place
And such a great joy
To have a smile on my face.
My twinkle was back
No longer a gap
My self esteem
No longer lacked.
All’s well that ends well
I left whistling a tune
And hoping I wouldn’t
Be coming back soon.
So that is in part the story of my Easter Day and my Monday morning.
Thank You Lord that my crown was not damaged and that I was able to get it out of the trap below the sink.
Thank You that my smile is all in place.
Thank You for modern dentistry; a service we take for such granted until we need a miracle.
Thank You for this day ahead.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
I have a bright smile on my face, how about you?
