SUNDAY SABBATH A DAY OF REST

Time to rest on Sabbath day

Time my thoughts to deeply weigh.

To settle down in peaceful respite,

Before exertion makes me desperate.

Sometimes I just can’t seem to stop,

And then I know I need to plop.

Not because I’m tired, but just in case,

That I not expire before tomorrow’s race.

The most difficult task for me to do

Is to lie down and kick off my shoes.

I’d rather be up, flittering around

Because my energy seems to abound.

And for that I give God my thanks

Because being grateful highly ranks.

God delights in our love and in our praise

So I send both heavenward throughout my days.

Thanking God for everything I can do

Because someday I’ll be unable to pursue.

So I will take a rest, when rest is needed.

A new discipline that must be heeded.

And since Sunday Sabbath is a day of rest

I’ll be still and rejuvenate all my zest.

I’ll laze away and do no more,

Then go to bed and soundly snore.
