Years have a way

Of settling one down.

All the hoopla of Christmas

No longer abounds.

 

A simple tree

And the same decorations,

It doesn’t take much

To achieve elation.

 

The delight found in Family,

Not what we buy,

Nor how much we give,

But together time.

 

Happy smiles,

And stories shared,

Seem to satisfy

Without fanfare.

 

Ever so soon

The day arrives,

Without the panic

Of things contrived.

 

Just simple elegance

In a welcoming home,

Includes quite contentment

With no need to roam.

 

And two little grandkids

Make us proud as punch.

And a simple table spread

On which to serve lunch.

 

Few gifts to exchange

Tokens of love given

Our own quiet world

In serenity living.

 

And we bow our heads

And give thanks to our God

Who sent His only Son

To walk on earth’s sod.

 

Born to woman

God’s perfect plan.

Jesus became

The Sacrificial Lamb

 

My prayer for today:

God thank You for your perfect plan.  Thank You for the years you have given to Dave and me.  Thank You for increasingly opening our hearts to Your peace, joy, and love.  Thank You for sacrificing Your Son, so that we might live.
