WHAT DO YOU WEAR UPON YOUR FACE?

When you are out and about

Going from place to place

Do you ever give consideration

Of the expression upon your face?

Do you scowl and furrow your brow

When you pass people in the aisles

As you meander through the malls

Walking your daily miles?

Exactly what does your expression say

When a stranger looks you in the eye?

Do you give a pleasant impression

Quickly responding with a smile?

Or do you turn your gaze away

Uncomfortable with eye contact?

So few people ever visually connect,

And that is a very sad fact.

Stop and take a look sometime

When you catch a glimpse of your reflection,

Is your expression open and loving?

Or one of personal rejection?

What we wear upon our face

Can make or break our day.

Because when we smile at another

More smiles will come our way.

Know exactly who you are,

For you are a child of God above.

Without confusion always think clearly

And sincerely to all people show love.

Never hesitate to trust God,

With pure motives treat everyone.

The countenance shining from your face

Will be a reflection of God’s Son.

Put on your smile in the morning

To brighten another’s day.

Acknowledge the Lord in all you do,

And He will show you the way.

The above poem was inspired by the following quote from Helen Keller.  I incorporated some of her thoughts (italicized) throughout the poem.

“Four things to learn in life:
To think clearly without hurry or confusion;
To love everybody sincerely;
To act in everything with the highest motives;
To trust God unhesitatingly.”

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.
