LIFE THROUGH THE SPIRIT

Condemnation is no longer

For those born again.

When we are born in Christ

He has forgiven us of our sin.

It is the law of the spirit

That has set us free.

Sin no longer has a hold,

And death we’ll no longer see.

When we walked the way of the world

Sinful nature made us weak.

But God sent His own Son

That new life we could seek.

Jesus came in the likeness

Of a sinful man.

He became the sin offering

So before God we could stand.

And His righteousness requirement

Was met when He died on the cross,

So that man no longer carries

A sinful nature that is lost.

When man accepts Jesus as Lord

He walks in the Spirit of life and peace,

And his sinful nature, no longer in control

Because God it can never please.

The Spirit of God who lives in you

Will forever with you abide

And when you walk with the Lord

He will never turn aside.

We are no longer a slave to fear

For we have received the spirit of sonship.

And His Spirit will testify daily

Of our relationship.

We are the Children of God.

Though that is not the end of the story.

When we share in Christ’s suffering

We will also share in His glory!

THE ABOVE POEM INSPIRED FROM ROMANS 8:1-7

“Romans 8:1-17New International Version (NIV)

8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a]free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.  And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.

12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by him we cry, “Abba,  Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

I AM HERE IN YOUR PRESENCE

I am here in Your presence Lord to give you my love,

And I’m here to give you the first part of my day.

Lord tune my heart to the melody of your voice

So with listening ears I hear what you say.

I am here in Your presence Lord seeking your face,

Accepting your strength and glory as I walk through this world.

Moment by moment, I bask in Your love

That You gave so freely, on the cross unfurled.

I am here in Your presence Lord to drink from your counsel.

You make my paths straight when I acknowledge You.

You are the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega.

I give You my trust as You lead me through.

I am here in Your presence Lord just to be glad,

Drinking so freely from your river of delights.

Resting in love and the fullness of your glory,

Beholding Your righteousness with spiritual sight.

I am here in Your presence Lord to put my hope in You.

Trusting with faith for that glorious day

When my race is done, when this life is over.

“Well done faithful servant” is what I want to hear You say.

GOD BLESS YOU THIS DAY!
