Sunday Sabbath September 18 2016 A DAY OF BLISS

Sunday Sabbath September 18 2016  A DAY OF BLISS

SUNDAY SABBATH POEM

September 18, 2016

By Kathleen Martens

A day of bliss

And I must remember

To write a poem

For the 18th of September.

My day of Sabbath

To honor my King

To lift up my heart

And His praises sing.

To spend time with a friend,

A garden to view,

With sun-shiney weather

And skies so blue.

And hundreds of butterflies

To delight my soul

As amongst trees

They flitter and stroll.

A magical sight

Of such wonder

To see them congregating

In such a number.

And again I rejoice

To behold God’s creation

On this Sunday Sabbath

Filled with elation.

And my poem is written

Received as a gift

And with deepest gratitude

Back to Him I lift.

Thank You Lord that I was able to see so many Monarch Butterflies today.

Below is a poem I wrote several years ago.  I would like to share it with you.

WONDER OF BEAUTY

Kathleen Martens

July 30, 2010

“I come into Your presence,

Into the awesome holiness of Your presence”.

I love to see God’s beauty

And wherever I look

There is something proclaiming

His presence.

I live in slow motion to others

Because I am seeing

What they are not.

I stop to take in all the beauty;

Up close inspection

In minute detail.

I cannot begin to take in

All I need

To feed my soul.

I stand in awe

Of the magnificence of creation.

And I wonder.

I have always wondered.

Silently.

Out loud.

And sometimes over bearing.

For no matter how often I see

It is always beautiful again.

This beauty is a gift

But some do not see.

And the gift given to me

Is not just creation

But the gift of the wonder,

And awe, and magnificence,

That I carry in my heart.

The gift of what makes me, me.

Perhaps that is why

I am who I am—

Created for the pleasure of God

To share with others

What is already there for them to see.

To help open their eyes

With a portrait

That can only capture

A miniscule vision of the truth

Of a sunset on water,

A flower unfolding.

Or a portrait of words

Proclaiming in description

His radiant beauty

To behold.

My responsibility…

To just open one heart at a time.

To open one pair of eyes

To the God of the universe

That takes continual pleasure

In creating something new

Each day

So that we may marvel.

HIS GLORY PERSONIFIED!

GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS YOU!
