The Color of Love

The Color of Love

God in His love created our world.

Lavish colors sprinkled as His canvas unfurled.

The blue of the sky, and meadows green,

Flowers in rainbow colorful sheen.

What is the significance of the colors He made?

Received each season, never to fade.

If asked the color of love what would be said?

The color of love?  To me would be red.

For I envision, Jesus on the cross.

Dying for the sinful and lost.

A crown of thorns, and the color red

Would be cascading down His head.

His back bare scarred by the lashes,

Bleeding profusely, sacrificed for the masses.

Red would stain the cross where nails

Penetrated the hands of The One to be hailed.

And from His side where the spear plunged in,

Coursed water and blood to wash away sin.

The color red given with grace.

All so that we will meet face to face.

The color red, life giving force,

Given in love as our strength and source.

The color red; the color of love,

For Jesus gave freely His life giving blood.

The color red, so we can begin again

For it has washed away our sin.
