A Cup of Water

A soothing cup of water

Does more than just quench thirst,

When offered from the heart

A soul will be submersed.

Perhaps it is not liquid

But “words” that are a balm.

Healing pain and sorrow;

Creating peace and calm.

When we offer what we have

To any in distress

The cup of “water” is received

Giving comfort and to bless.

The cup of “water” that you give

May be time another needs.

A listening ear, heartfelt hands

Giving love, and planting seeds.

A smile, a word, a heartfelt hug,

Just a simple touch.

You never know how much it means

To some it may mean much.

So never let an opportunity pass

When you see a hurting soul

To offer what they need;

Let that be your goal.

For God has promised great reward

To those who offer care

And give a cup in His Name,

Because part of Him you share!
